Born in Xalapa (Mexico), he graduated with honors from the University of Guanajuato. Since his debut in Zurich in 2007, his voice has been acclaimed interpreting a wide range of composers, including Bellini, Bizet, Donizetti, Haydn, Mozart, Rossini, and Verdi. He has worked with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Zubin Mehta, and Fabio Luisi; besides performing in European theaters like the Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra national de Paris, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Semperoper in Dresden, and the Royal Opera House in London; and in the United States at the San Francisco Opera and The Metropolitan Opera in New York. In 2014, he captured the attention of the opera world by encored the aria of Ramiro (La cenerentola) two consecutive nights at The Metropolitan Opera in New York. Shortly after, he did the same with the aria of Tonio (La fille du régiment) at the Teatro Real in Madrid. He debuted at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in the 2012/13 season with L’elisir d’amore, and has returned with Maria Stuarda (2014/15), Rigoletto and La fille du régiment (2016/17), I puritani (2018/19), a recital (2019/20), Lucia di Lammermoor (2020/21), and Die Zauberflöte (2021/22).
